Verify before anyone is dispatched
Video verification or an audio/operator check turns a sensor trip into a described event. Responders prioritise verified alarms, and your site stops accumulating chargeable false dispatches.
Fix the physical causes
Nuisance trips are usually mechanical or environmental, not electronic.
- Doors that no longer close squarely, and contacts drifting out of gap tolerance.
- Motion detectors aimed at heaters, vents, hanging signage, or glass with moving headlights beyond it.
- Dust, insects and cobwebs inside detectors — a maintenance issue, not a fault.
- Stock, seasonal displays or racking moved into a detection zone after installation.
Fix the human causes
Keep the user list current — deactivate codes the day someone leaves. Give every user their own code so events are attributable. Post a simple arming procedure at the panel, and set schedules so an early arrival does not trip the system.
Access-driven arming removes most of this: the system disarms on a valid credential at the first door and arms on last-out.
Maintain on a schedule
Test the system on a defined cycle, replace batteries before they fail, confirm communication paths (IP and cellular) actually report, and re-walk-test detectors after any renovation, racking change or tenant change.
